  • Deb's Story

I wish I had done this years ago. It changed my life. Work became impossible due to my lack of knee control. I had given up on working for pleasure, now I have no knee, hip, or back pain. I would encourage anyone who is considering the Townsend KAFO to do it!

  • The Eggleston's Story

We would like to highly recommend Kenneth Vyvlecka with Family Orthotics and Prosthetics in Kearney, NE. My dad suffered a broken hip and femur, which left his right leg shorter. After surgery, he needed a shoe lift to balance in order to walk safely during his rehabilitation and recovery. We had so much difficulty here in North Platte, NE getting the shoe lift made locally. We tried to contact the orthotics tech the doctor had referred in North Platte, but he never responded to us or physical therapy at Linden Court. This caused a big delay in his physical therapy and rehabilitation. After many requests, we finally referred to Ken Vyvlecka in Kearney. We personally drove the shoe to him in Kearney, and he added the shoe lift that very day. We were able to get my dad walking safely and balanced the next day. If it were not for Ken and his daughter, who helped us, I am sure his recovery would have been further delayed, and he would not have progressed to the level he is today without their help. Thank you very much to Ken Vyvlecka and his daughter, Amanda. We would highly recommend anyone who needs orthotics and prosthetics to contact Family Orthotics and Prosthetics in Kearney, NE.

What to expect at your first visit

Call us and schedule an appointment at Family O&P or one of our clinical locations to discuss your needs. Your visit is always free of charge and requires no referral.

Our staff will review your paperwork and insurance to confirm everything is in order.

We will discuss your orthotic needs and evaluate which option would benefit you in accordance with your physician's prescription. If you are in need of a standard bracing option, we carry a variety at our office and may be able to fit it and deliver it at this same appointment.

If you require a custom orthosis, a cast or digital scan will be taken to begin the fabrication of your custom device.

A prescription is required from your MD for a custom orthosis. We will work behind the scenes to obtain proper authorization from your insurance company.

If it is required, our staff will begin the process of insurance verification so your orthosis can be delivered as soon as possible.

Fabrication time varies depending on your needs, availability, and insurance authorization.

A follow-up appointment will be required to ensure a proper fit of your orthosis. If you require adjustments at any time, please call us. We are happy to serve you.
