In 1992, the American Academy of Pediatrics initiated the campaign to reduce the number of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) cases.  As a result, the rate of SIDS deaths decreased 40%.  However, as a consequence of this program, the number of referrals to craniofacial centers increased six-fold.   Positional Plagiocephaly if severe, is often treated with the cranial remolding orthosis.  Family Orthotics and Prosthetics uses the STARscanner from Orthomerica to evaluate our patients and fabricate Cranial Remolding Helmets (Pictured Left).
